Wie Donates Toys To Ill Keiki
On her return home for Christmas, golf phenomenon Michelle Wie (center) teamed up with Walmart to donate $9,500 worth of toys and gift cards to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii, hospitalized children and their parents. Accompanied by her parents and friends, Wie went to the Ronald McDonald House Family Room at Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children to visit with and give gifts to children who spent Christmas in the hospital.
Kapiolani Nurse Receives Award
Patsy (Wilcox) Sheehan (right), great-granddaughter of Albert and Emma Kauikeolani Wilcox, recently presented the 2009 Emma Kauikeolani Wilcox Award to Joyce Wong, RN, (left) a children’s cancer nurse who’s been at Kapiolani for 25 years. The ceremony was the capstone event marking the centennial anniversary of pediatrics at Kapi’olani.The hospital’s predecessor, Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital, officially opened its doors on Nov. 25, 1909.
