Uniting To Fight Alzheimer’s Disease
Nearly 1,000 Oahu residents joined the Alzheimer’s Association, Aloha chapter’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s disease and united in a movement to reclaim the future for millions Sept. 10 at Magic Island/Ala Moana Beach Park. Participants raised nearly $78,000 to fund Alzheimer’s care, support and research programs here in Hawaii.
An Electric Donation
Hawaiian Electric Industries and its operating companies - Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO), Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO), Maui Electric Company (MECO) and American Savings Bank - raised $365,000 for the Japan earthquake and tsunami relief efforts. Funds raised have been donated to the American Red Cross and Japan- America Society of Hawaii to provide support for the victims and their families affected by the tragic events. Awarding Those Who Care For Us
Christa Braun Inglis was honored recently as the 2012 Mana’olana Award recipient by the Hawaii (Oahu) chapter Oncology Society. Inglis currently works as a nurse practitioner at Oncare Hawaii. The Mana’olana Award recognizes one of many outstanding nurses in Hawaii who demonstrates professionalism, community service and hope in working with people who have cancer.
