Surf Legends Aid Boys and Girls Club
Pro surfer Makua Rothman, Boys and Girls Club special events coordinator Hilary Arakaki, Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii development manager Debbie Siah and pro surfer Sunny Garcia show off more than $1,700 raised at a free gas giveaway sponsored by Boost Mobile. The company threw in an additional $3,300 to make $5,000, which will all go directly to Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii.
Le Jardin Receives $200,000 Grant
Head master of Le Jardin Academy Adrian Allan (right) and the school’s capital campaign chairman Tom Zimmeran (left) receive a $200,000 check from Paula Boyce, Bank of Hawaii assistant vice president and grants administrator.The funds come from the Mary D. and Walter F. Frear Eleemosynary Trust, and will be used for the construction of 18 classrooms, a new library and other projects.
Honoring Longtime UH Profs
Dr. Ramon de la Pena (left), Dr. Isabella Aiona Abbot, Dr. Barbara B. Smith and Dr. Richard Kosaki were honored by UH-Manoa chancellor Virginia Hinshaw for their personal dedication and contributions in the cultural and social environment of the Manoa campus. The instructors were critical in forming curriculum in science, music and administration from the 1940s to the present.
