JN Automotive Group recently sponsored a hole-in-one golf contest as part of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors Family & Friends Golf Tournament held at New Ewa Beach Golf Club. Gregg Kauihou (center) was the lucky winner of the $30,000 prize. Mayor Honors HPU Baseball Team
The Hawaii Pacific University baseball team, after winning the 2010 PacWest Conference championship, was honored recently by Mayor Mufi Hanneman. The ceremony took place in the mayor’s private chambers at Honolulu Hale, and nearly two dozen coaches, players and family members were in attendance. Jones Receives Plaque For Service
MidWeek columnist Bob Jones was presented a special plaque by the Hawaii Department of the Military Order of the Purple Heart at the recent Hawaii Foodbank Patriots Celebration, honoring all of Hawaii’s Purple Heart awardees from the Vietnam War. Jones was seriously wounded while covering the Schofield Barracks 25th Division in Vietnam in 1966 for the Honolulu Advertiser. As a civilian, however, he was not eligible for the Purple Heart at the time. Presenting the award to Bob is Henry Lee, president of the the Hawaii Order of the Purple Heart.
