Bistro Sun Offers Specials on South King Street

Lunchtime specials on the eclectic Bistro Sun menu this week include a variety of complete meals that start at $7.95. The popular lunch sets feature some of the restaurant’s signature dishes, all served with soup, salad, garlic toast or rice, coffee or tea. There are special discounts at lunchtime for students and senior citizens who show ID.

“It’s a great way for new customers to taste some of the most popular dishes on our menu,“says manager, Mike Franzen, “and of course it’s a great value lunch in itself.”

Bistro Sun specializes in “Italian-Japanese”-style dishes. The original restaurant opened in Osaka more than 30 years ago, and the Japanese chefs who work in the kitchens of the Honolulu Bistro Suns (there’s a new Bistro Sun on Sheridan Street) trained for some time in Italy.

Sam Choy’s Says it With Strawberries.

Chocolate-covered strawberries are perhaps the easiest way to suggest romance with food. The heart-shaped fruits lend themselves perfectly to luxurious chocolate coverings, and while decadent, they seem so much less of a calorie offender than a box of chocolates. Sam Choy’s has its own chocolate fountain, so dipping a dozen is easy - especially when the strawberries come with extra-long stems.

This month you can order a dozen long-stemmed chocolate-dipped strawberries at Sam Choy’s Diamond Head restaurant for pick up between Feb. 11 and 14. The strawberries are $26.95 for a deluxe dozen, and orders are now being taken at 732-8645.
