Hiroshi’s Contemporary Kaiseki
Hiroshi invites foodies to start the new year off right and come by to enjoy its Contemporary Kaiseki Dinner Thursday, Jan. 24. Offered four times a year, this 10-course meal features several delicious items, each paired with fabulous wines selected by Master Sommelier Chuck Furuya.
To start is the Sakizuke-Amuse Bouche Tastutaage of Japanese Tako “Cocktail and Kobachi-Amuse Bouche Sous Vide of Beef Striploin Poke.”
The appetizer is the Zensai-Appetizer, made of crispy fried shrimp, baby lettuces and kochujang-saikyo miso vinaigrette. Also served is the Otsukuri-Sashimi Dish with lomi salmon, Maui onion, sugar snap peas, crispy skin salmon, salmon roe-ikura and oven-roasted tomato, creamed spinach and buttermilk sauce.
The entrees include a Hashiyasume-In Between Dish with king crab salad, spicy guacamole, celery and cilantro with lotus root chip; Nimono-Stewed Dish, a pork sandwich, pancetta, Brie cheese with Sicilian bread crumb and roasted garlic brown butter sauce; Agemonogawari-Deep Fried Dish Substitute, including pan-roasted filet mignon, potato au gratin, roasted beets, Hamakua mushrooms and Frankie’s peppercorn sauce; and a Shokuji-starch dish with chazuke.
On the dessert list is a kanmi-dessert, orange and cream crme caramel, orange sorbet with orange lilikoi vinaigrette. Call to ask about the wine selections.

Music, Dancing At Brew Moon
In addition to great food, Brew Moon has added live music and dancing to its menu of fun. Starting Friday, Jan. 11, the restaurant hosts a live band Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m. to closing. Performing on Fridays for “Top 40 Dance Night” is Shining Star The Band, featuring Annette Alcos Oasay. Saturday is “Island Music Night,“and the featured performer this Saturday is Saffaih. There’s no cover charge for the entire month of January; 21-plus welcome.

A Taste Of Tuscany
Enjoy delicious Italian creations inspired by Tuscany at Sergio’s “Festa Regionale” Jan. 1-15. Chef Alfredo Lee has created a menu of pane, antipasti e zuppe, pasta, secondi and dolci, pairing each with wines of Tuscany. To start, enjoy pane Toscano, salt-free Tuscan bread baked fresh at Sergio’s. For antipasti, choose from Zuppa Toscana, Insalata Con Fave, Calamari Ripicine Al Forno or Gamberi E Carciofi Alla Fiamma.
For pastas, Chef Alfredo offers Pappardelle Di Castagne (chestnut pasta w/vegetables, Italian sausage, white wine and crushed red pep- per), Taglierini Porto Venere (pasta strands, jumbo prawns, clams, white wine, garlic and red chili flakes), Mezzelune Cacio E Pere (pasta filled with grilled pears, mozzarella, Parmesan, asparagus-crescenza cheese sauce, with toasted almonds) and Risotto Zucchine E Gamberi (risotto with shrimp and zucchini).
The Secondi offerings include Pollo al Matone all Diavola (partially deboned half chicken, marinated, grilled and served with cannellini beans and spinach), Cacciucco (variety of seafood in a spicy tomato broth served inside round bread), Branzino Al Forno (baked sea bass w/potatoes, black olives, capers, tomatoes) and Bistecca All Fiorentina (grilled T-bone steak marinated, served w/rosemary roasted potatoes, cannellini beans and spinach). For dessert, try the Torta Di Zabaglione, a homemade mascarpone and zabaglione tart with toasted almonds, served with crme Anglaise.
Wines paired with dishes on the menu include: Nozzole Le Bruniche Chardonnay, Vernaccia Di San Gimignano Conti Serristori,Villa Antinori 2003, Nozzole Chianti Classico Riserva 2003 or Vin Santo Machiavelli. Check your menu to see which wine goes with which dish.
