Good news for pizza lovers

It’s lucky Antonio’s Pizza owner Joe Tramontano has a large family. His plans to expand his successful pizza business are already incorporating lots of family help.
“My son Joe is here at the new store with cousin Dave,” he says of the recently opened Aiea Antonio’s, “and we have cousin CJ Provanzano and cousin Anthony over at the original Kahala store.”
Plans to open a third store in Kapolei, where a central kitchen would be located, are in the works.
“The thing about great pizza is consistency and good ingredients,” says the enthusiastic Tramontano, who hails from Connecticut. “We hope to one day have a central kitchen where we can make all the dough and all the sauce in one place.”
Right now, Antonio’s relies on the excellent baking skills that run in the family.
“I’m lucky in that we have Anthony and CJ and Dave and Joe Jr., who all are trained in how to make great pizza,” says Joe. “But it would be nice one day to supply supermarkets and let people use our dough at home to make their own pizza.”
The latest Antonio’s, located on Kamehameha Highway in Aiea, offers a range of pizzas, salads, sandwiches and pasta entrees. The move to Aiea has been greeted with joy by local residents.
“We have so many customers who come from the Aiea side of the island to our Kahala store,” says Tramontano, “that we thought we’d make life easier for them and move closer. What with gas prices and the cost of living increasing, we thought it would help to move here.” Local customers are thrilled - and Joe’s fielding calls at the Kahala store every day from loyal pizza lovers anxious to find out where he is.
“People are pretty excited that we’ve moved out here,” he says, “and those people who don’t know us yet are starting to discover us too.”

New At Vino
Keith Endo continues his creativity in the kitchen at Vino, with new menu items and a late-night supper menu that runs on weekends, with a 25 percent discount when you order after 10 p.m.
New on the late-night menu are grilled marinated calamari, grilled smoked blue cheese polenta salad, crispy shrimp with cioppino risotto and rock shrimp scampi with Nalo Farms arugula. Fans of hearty comfort fare might want to try Endo’s pan-seared rack of Colorado lamb, his red wine-braised oxtail served with pancetta cannelloni bean stew, or his boneless short ribs with truffle mashed potato and Swiss chard. Endo has a natural talent for these rustic dishes, adding a perfect complement to the excellent finds from the cellars of Chuck Furuya’s talented winemaker friends.

At the Chef’s Table at 3660 On the Rise, the popular monthly banquet room event, chef de cuisine Lydell Leong and chef/owner Russell Siu offer a different menu along with suggested wine pairings, with wines offered at 40 percent off the regular list price.
Guests also may bring their own wines with no corkage fee; the wine-friendly monthly menus cost $75.
The February Chef’s Table, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m., features: Blue Crab-Stuffed Mushroom with Mornay Sauce, Pan-Seared Arare-Crusted Scallop with Yuzu Butter Sauce, Slow-Roasted Keawe-Smoked Wild Salmon with Braised Farm Bacon on Creamy Exotic Mushroom Ragout, and Oven-Roasted Beef Tenderloin and Mushroom in Puff Pastry.

Need a fixin’ of some Southern food? Then Molly’s Smokehouse is the place to head this month.
With a regular menu that features dozens of Southern specialties, Molly Walker has garnered a loyal following of devotees.
