Green Beer and Ice Cream.
St.Patrick’s Day is almost upon us, and that means a whole lot of green coloring added to food and a list of green drinks that would frighten a leprechaun. At Don Ho’s Island Grill, you can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by ordering the house (green) salad in a honey miso vinaigrette, or baked spiced corned beef with (green) cabbage and Yukon gold mashed potatoes. Dessert? Green ice cream, of course, with a few chocolate chips thrown in for good measure. Barry Choy provides live entertainment from 5 to 9 p.m.
For more information, call: Don Ho’s Island Grill Aloha Tower Marketplace 528-0807
And conveniently located upstairs from Don Ho’s, Tower Grill will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by offering a lunch of creamy potato soup with carrot coins, and a corned beef and Swiss cheese sandwich, otherwise known as a Reuben.
For dinner, the American bistro-style restaurant with views across Honolulu harbor offers corned beef with Irish mashed potatoes and green beans, bowtie pesto pasta with fresh ahi, and brownies with Irish cream for dessert. Tower Grill’s regular menu, offering steaks, salads, sandwiches and fresh fish specials, also will be available. A variety of “green” beers and special drinks also will be on the menu.

The 2006 Annual Restaurant Awards were announced last week and of the more than 100 restaurants listed around the country, Hawaii had seven winners. Five restaurants (d.k. Steak House, Gerard’s, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Vino Honolulu and Vino Kapalua) each won the magazine’s noted one bottle award for a Wine List of Distinction, and a further two restaurants (Hiroshi’s Eurasion Tapas and Longhi’s Wailea) each won two bottles for their Wine Lists of Unique Distinction. Chuck Furuya is the man behind the wines at award-winning d.k’s, Hiroshi’s and Vino.“It’s nice to get the recognition, of course,” he says,“but it’s just great that we’re able to offer these kinds of wines to our customers.”
Longhi’s wine program is run by Peter Longhi and his brother Charlie. The Italian-inspired restaurants have received numerous awards for their outstanding wine collection.
