The Panya Valentine’s Event. If you’re looking for love this Valentine’s Day, you may find it over a Thai-style fish patty or some slow-roasted prime rib. Panya Bistro owners Alice and Annie Yeung are inviting singles to enjoy an evening of delicious food , a wine tasting, speed dating and some ice-breaking games. The “for singles only” event will focus on love and romance - and lots of fun. There will also be guest speakers to give advice on everything from dating and relationships to grooming and conversations tips.
Mona Wood, Panya’s event organizer and publicist, understands the need for something to fill the dating gap.
“I was dating through my 30s with no one really special,” she says. “We figure this event might lead to some relationships - just in time for Valentine’s Day.”
At the very least the evening should be short (remember how interminably long a bad first date can seem?) and sweet (Panya is known for unbelievably good desserts).
“We want people to come and perhaps make new friends, and certainly enjoy great food and wine in a safe, comfortable and fun environment,” says Wood. “When you think about it, there’s no down side.”
The Panya Event is Feb. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m.

E&O Trading Company Adds New Menu Items.
E&O owner Kenwei Chong has just recently returned from a month long trip to Southeast Asia - a constant source of new ideas for the restaurant located in Ward Centre.
“Since November we’ve added about 11 new dishes to the menu,” he says, “increasing our menu offerings by about 30 percent.”
E&O has also hired in-demand mixologist Joey Goettesman, who most recently was behind the trendy bar at super cool W.
“Joey has rolled out a whole new list of elixirs,” says Chong,“and he’s come up with a drinks menu that really focuses on the flavors of our food.”
For those unfamiliar with E&O’s cuisine, the award-winning restaurant offers a taste of Southeast Asia. The restaurant, decorated in sumptuous colors and fabrics, is open for lunch and dinner daily and offers a “street food” Sunday brunch once a month.
