The sun shone hot on about 1,000 rodeo fans, who nevertheless had two great options for what to watch - the rodeo action or the beautiful scenery that surrounded the corral at Kualoa Ranch on Sept. 8. The 15th annual Zip Memorial All-Girls Rodeo attracted 90 entries, said Lu Faborito. (She noted that some didn’t arrive because they’d planned to come by Superferry with their steeds.) All-around champion was Brandy Joseph, and Shelby Rita was reserve champion.
It was Rita’s day for sure. She also teamed up with her brother Levi to win the Mixed Barrels - the only event that allowed men to compete. The Haleiwa cow-girl also won a donated stud fee for Benito’s Chance, valued at $1,000. Ya-hoo!
