Supporters turned out in their weirdest fashions for the Windward YMCA’s fourth annual Hallo-Wine. Tasting and Silent grand ballroom at Koolau Golf Club. Donors responded with a hundred items for the auction, and Kalapawai Market brought in dozens of fine wines for the revelers, costumed or not. Koolau Caterers did their part with heavy pupus, and the Ahi Wela band (Jason Mejia, Ocean Kawili, Lopaka Hoopii and friends) played on. The gala raises funds so needy families can afford the many programs offered at the YMCA for a fee. Last year the YMCA of Honolulu served 105, 000 children, teens and adults in nearly 100 programs at nine branches. We should all drink to that. To help out, call 261-0808.
