So what if it was wet outside? The sunshine under the King Intermediate School gym roof was blazing at the Windward Orchid Society’s 27th annual show and plant sale March 24-26. The displays by WOS and other clubs easily fit the theme of “Orchids — A Splash of Color,” and the rows and rows of new growth and blossoming plants dazzled the eye and brought out the pocketbooks. Members worked hard to set things up and share their knowledge in continuous mini lessons on plant care for beginners visiting the event. Orchids: They’re easy to raise (so members say), pretty to look at, great for gifts, and they can bring an entire community together for a dry and pleasant time on a stormy weekend.
