It was all about heart at the annual scholarship dinner dance staged Feb. 2 by St. Ann’s Model Schools in the Koolau Grand Ballroom. According to Early Learning Center principal Clarie Thompson, about 300 generous souls gathered for the gala, which netted $45,000 for the school’s tuition fund for non-parishioners. (Tuition at the 167-year-old Kaneohe Catholic school now ranges from $600 a month for pre-school to $4,685 a year.) The crowd enjoyed music by Ho’okena and the Ebbtides plus a “delicious” sit-down dinner, dancing and a silent auction. The auction alone, repleat with fine art and two-wheeled beach cruisers, brought in $11,000. Next up for the ambitious group: A Taste of St. Ann’s with guest chefs on April 19.
