Windward Women Democrats (Districts 48, 49, 50 and 51) held its fourth annual Patsy T. Mink Memorial Luncheon Oct. 6 at Mid-Pacific Country Club. The event nourished its 55 guests with food for body and mind. Former Honolulu City Council chairwoman Marilyn Bornhorst, who served with Mink on the council, spoke of Mink’s achievements to a standing ovation. Mink’s brother, Eugene Takemoto and his wife, also came to the lunch, which is held to celebrate the life of Mink, a career Hawaii lawmaker who was elected to city, state and national office. She died Sept. 28, 2002 while running for another term in Hawaii’s 2nd Congressional District. To join Windward Women Democrats (men, too!), call Pam DeGrossa at 261-7652.
