Windward Oahu’s biggest Relay for Life campaign roared through Kailua Beach Park July 14-15 and earned an estimated $90,000 for the fight against cancer. The Marines also joined chairman Briggs Christie’s volunteer crew, performing heavy labor and setting up electric power overnight — not to mention the Corps’ show band.
The Relay is more than a fundraiser, says Christie. It brings communities together to learn, to honor and to remember. It’s also the only time one gets to camp overnight at Kailua Beach Park! A silent auction, meals from Buzz’s and Outback, hula, line dancing, music, a country store and more buoyed the spirits of more than 50 relay teams all night long. To join the next one, call 262-5124.
