For a preschool that’s been around for 43 years and seen at least two generations take naps and stuff cubbyholes under its roof, Calvary Episcopal Preschool still knows how to fill a day with childlike glee. It’s called the Keiki Karnival, and this year the magic fell on March 11 — between downpours. Families enjoyed shave ice, popcorn, rides and games of all kinds. The traditional dunking booth was back, along with a maze, a bake sale and cakewalk, plant booth and live music. The school has welcomed Windward toddlers — more than 4,500 of them in all — for decades at 45-485 Aumoku St., across from Windward City Shopping Center and currently has 95 keiki enrolled. “The carnival was hugely successful,” says director Christina O’Dell, and the silent auction (a benefit for tuition aid) “was better than expected. We had a great response from the community.”
