It’s rare to get so many Assistance League of Hawaii members to sit down together and enjoy themselves.
They are usually at the thrift shop (at 1505 Young St.), tutoring keiki, sorting school clothes, sharing wildlife lessons, bringing teddy bears to the ER, etc. But on March 29, they played games and had lunch and an auction at Waialae Country Club to support all those endeavors.
Many members live in Windward Oahu, including Amy Carter and vice president Ellen Libby, and the league has most recently helped Waimanalo, Blanche Pope and Kailua Elementary schools. They are proud to say they have 120 members and no paid staff. To join, donate help or contribute items to the thrift shop, call 526-4008.
