Bay View Golf Park has a revitalized miniature golf course and will stage a grand reopening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday for the public.

After eight months of renovations and a change in management, Bay View Mini-Putt now offers two outdoor 18-hole courses with new artificial turf and three large areas for private parties.

Both courses had soft openings earlier this year, and owner Kenn Yuen said he’s had a great response from local players so far. “The entire property has received lots of TLC these past few months,” said Yuen, who leases the mini-putt concession from golf park owner KBay LLC. “We are proud that it looks better than ever yet continues to be an affordable, wholesome venue that people of all ages can enjoy.”

The cost of play varies by age and number of holes. Kamaaina adults pay $10 for 18 holes, or $15 for 36 holes. Keiki age 2 and under get in free, and there are special discounts for military, seniors, etc.

He cleaned up the mosquitoes, mold and mildew as well, and just finished “water issue” corrections a couple of weeks ago. Yuen isn’t complaining though. The father of three, his career has included being KBAY property manager, Frank De Lima’s bookkeeper, Daniel Ho’s manager and even a banker in Los Angeles.

“I was the right-hand man for a lot of people,” he explained, “but I always wanted to own my own business.”

Saturday’s celebration features free play, balloons, refreshments, face and body painting and prizes. The Marine Forces Pacific Band, Gregg Hammer of Island 98.5 and Hawaii Matsuri Taiko will entertain.
