The ‘Halloween Gone Wild’ party Oct. 27 at the Kahala Resort drew 700 guests and made $180,000 for charity, proving that young professionals can let their hair down and save the world at the same time. Sponsored by the GIFT (Giving Inspiration For Tomorrow) Foundation of Hawaii, proceeds from this year’s gala go to North Shore Community Land Trust and ‘AINA in School Program of the Kokua Hawaii Foundation. But the Vegas trip, open bar, pupus, auction and entertainment by New York DJ Nero were mere sidelines to the costume contest, as you can see. The ‘AINA program brings farming and care for the earth to Waialae Elementary and other schools in a hands-on way. The land trust works to preserve the Pupukea-Paumalu area.
