Vocation, vocation, vocation! Well, that’s not how the saying goes, but Brother Paul Bednarczyk, CSC, executive director of the National Religious Vocation Conference, will definitely have you feeling otherwise.
Bednarczyk will present “Contemporary Vocation Ministry: Challenging,But Not Impossible” Feb. 20 and “Building a Culture of Vocation” Feb. 21 at the Mystical Rose Oratory on the shared grounds of Saint Louis School,Marianist Center of Hawaii and Chaminade University (3140 Waialae Ave.) in an effort to better educate participants on the culture of vocation.
Bednarczyk’s Saturday workshop will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. The lecture explores how a culture of vocation can be strengthened and supported and discusses how all people can freely and willingly respond to God’s call to love and service within the church.
Sunday’s lecture identifies the best practices of vocation ministry as outlined in the NRVC/CARA study on religious vocations, with suggestions on ways to implement them in a religious institute. Topics include congregational ownership of vocation ministry; the use of media and technology; attracting and retaining candidates; and suggestions for an effective vocation program.
Both lectures are free and open to the public. For more information on either program, call Brother Dennis Schmitz at 735-4801.
