ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A review of actions taken after a Navy investigation into hazing and sexual harassment several years ago at a military dog unit in Bahrain has been sent to the chief of naval operations.
A Navy spokeswoman, Cmdr. Elissa Smith, says Adm. Gary Roughead is reviewing the document from the naval commander of installations. She said the review has not yet been released publicly.
A 2007 investigation cited dozens of examples of hazing and sexual harassment of Sailors between 2005 and 2006.
Rep. Joe Sestak, D-Pa., asked the Navy last month for more information about how it handled the case of a gay Sailor abused by fellow servicemen in the unit. Sestak also asked why the head of the unit at the time was promoted.
Smith said that in January, a Naval Security Force team conducted a 60-day review and concluded the unit was performing within Navy regulations.
