Continuing the saga of those crazy Labradoodles, a coffee-and-cream colored trainee from Kauai named Vaughn has joined Dr. Tiffany Hamaguchi‘s Animal Assisted Therapy Program at the Hawaii State Hospital. Vaughn joins Star (of recent Islander fame), UB, Zane, Vita and Venus. Sounds like a law firm to me ... More dog news: Teddy the award-winning Kerry Blue Terrier (with Kailua human Heidi Cregor) has accepted an invitation to compete in the Eikanuba AKC National Championship in Long Beach, Calif., this weekend. Go, Teddy! ... Speaking of pets, Kaneohe’s professional pet photographer Stan Wright was busy last weekend at the Hawaiian Humane Society. It was a fundraiser, of course, where folks paid $20 to have pet photos taken with Santa Paws ...

“So we jumped into my truck and gave pursuit. We found them on Kalanianaole Highway, headed them off and chased them just past Castle hospital, where we forced them to stop.” A dash through the woods followed - Thomas now shirtless, shoeless and without his glasses - until he caught one of the two perps (cool lingo, yeah?). Just like the DOG, Thomas the artist gave the submissive teen a talking to about hanging out with the wrong crowd. “It was 20 minutes out of my day,” he recalls, “but it gave me peace of mind.” Thomas can also tell a good lawyer joke ... My husband (a retired lawyer) and I ended up on HPU’s nursing floor, as usual, on our way upstairs for The Lion in Winter. Queen Eleanor herself (Holly Holowach) showed us to the right floor. We passed a very pleasant evening watching the royals quarrel (375-1282) ... Bruno Escalante Jr., now a freshman on a boxing scholarship at Northern Michigan University, fought an amateur match last Friday in Wahiawa. The 112-pound Bruno trained at Waimanalo Gym and is a two-time champion in the sport
