Of 1,600 entries, only 100 were selected to be in the 2006-2007 Oahu yellow pages directory. Theme is “the meaning of ohana.” The HT ohana also gave her $100 and another $400 for her school ... Speaking of art, Page Chang has teamed up with Patrick Ching to offer art classes to children this summer at Patrick’s Naturally Hawaiian Art Gallery in Waimanalo. “We have a vision of providing affordable, accessible art for all kids,” says Page - including her 7-year-old daughter who has offered to be a special assistant. The Kalaheo senior had the right key that turned on the 2000 Ford Focus, which he won from Mike McKenna at the school’s Project Graduation. Artur plans to attend Windward Community College, where there’s plenty of free parking, especially in the summer. (The car dealer rewards schools with good PG attendance.

Keola Kepilino-Perry won Kalaheo High School’s $250 Olival Scholarship, named after Kathie Wells’ three sons who graduated from the school. It’s for a student who works hard, has a good attitude, overcomes obstacles, has good character, diligence and good work ethics. Wow! I’d like to meet you, Keola ... Kailua’s Robert and Becky Silva are becoming almost as visible as their busy children. They were in a TV commercial last year for the Hawaii Association of Mortgage Brokers and have been asked by pal Claude Phillips to do a sequel. Could they be the next Harry and Myra? ... Kaneohe’s Nancy Ortiz must be flipping out about now. It’s Salsa Week, and there’s someone shimmying every day to a lively band somewhere on this island. She’s been singing with Jack Johnson - live and on the new Mana Maoli Vol. 2 and 3 CD set; plus her debut album, Lilikoi, is out in the stores and getting great reviews.

Friends and colleagues gathered June 3 at Heeia Elementary School to unveil a portrait of the late Cindy Onizuka, who died of cancer in 2002. “Cindy was a sixth-grade teacher in science, but she probably was better known as our Title I teacher,” says PCNC Jennie Yee. “She actually instituted several programs that have since become very fine traditions at our school.” The framed studio portrait now hangs in the Title I classroom
