Keline Yoshimura of Kaneohe made the fall dean’s list at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisc., where she’s studying for her BS in human biology ... Talk about multi-tasking: Eden-Lee Murray of Ahuimanu has got it nailed (as they said over and over again at the Olympics). She plays the title role (evil, boo, hiss!) in The Snow Queen Saturday and Sunday at Hawaii Theatre (528-0506). The award-winning actress also portrays the kindly grandmother and serves as director of the Hans Christian Andersen musical. Kaneohe’s Cameron Hughes and Jesse McMillin are in the production, and brother Aengus McMillin runs the lights. Did I mention that Eden-Lee is the theater’s education director, too? ...

Kaneohe resident Norma Gorst‘s poem Wooden Box earned honorable mention in the HPU-sponsored James Vaughn Poetry Contest. It’s about a music box, and judges said it was singled out for its evocation of the origins of the box as a “surrogate human voice.” Norma alludes to famous woodworkers such as Stradivari and imagines what those masters must have thought as they came to work with the wood ...
