WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
POLICE ARE conducting an investigation into allegations that Paris Hilton snuck her underage boyfriend Stavros Niarchos into a Vegas club on New Year’s ... perhaps they should have brought their video?
99-pound Sonya Thomas is the No. 1
ranked female competitive eater in
the world
EARLY LAST year we told you about 99-pound Sonya Thomas, who ate a 9-pound Big Daddy Burger in 48 minutes and change. The name of the sport is competitive eating (does running for the bathroom qualify this as a sport?) and it’s grown from 12 events in 1997 to more than 100 events last year. Sonya is the No. 1 ranked female competitive eater (No. 2 in the world) holding the record for eating 36 dozen oysters in 10 minutes, 11 pounds of cheesecake in nine minutes and 48 chicken tacos in 11 minutes. The champ returns to the Plaza Hotel Jan. 21 ... By the way, she regularly out-eats guys four or five times her size ... I figure she just hasn’t faced some of our local talent who eat for a hobby.
NFL QB Killer Warren Sapp was seen at Tao grinding 24 pieces of satay of sea bass, 24 pieces of pork ribs, two 1-pound Kobe fillets and a dessert platter. Perhaps those tests at the University of Miami were accurate after all.
WHAT THE Wolfgang? Further delineating the line between fantasy and reality, Wolfgang Puck has opened his latest eatery in the Montecito (the make-believe casino) on the NBC TV show Las Vegas. It’s a real working kitchen that’s a permanent fixture on the show ...
AT THE Main Street, Sandra Vincent won $3,500 on a 25 cent video KENO machine. Julieta Driskell of Pearl City won $6,000 on a $1 video poker machine.
AT THE Cal they had to break out the smelling salts for Jean Pang of Pearl City. She fainted after hitting $25,000 on a $1 slot.
KIMO’S VEGAS Tip: What’s the best way to get a comp in Vegas? Ask! After you’ve been playing for a while, ask the pit boss if you’ve played enough for a buffet or coffee shop comp. If he says no, politely ask how much longer you have to play to earn the comp.
