WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas… the Players Edge!
HAPPY NEW YEAR, Gung Hee Fat Choy, Sun Nien Fai Lok (Cantonese), Xin Nian Yu Kuai (Mandarin), Shanah Tovah (Hebrew), Akemashite Omedetou Gozaimasu (Japanese), Maligayang Bagong Taon (Tagalog), Feliz Ano Novo (Portuguese), Hauoli Makahiki Hou (Hawaiian)!
NEW YEAR’S Eve in Vegas has become the New Year’s Eve party! Surpassing the reputation of the city so nice they named it twice (N.Y., N.Y.). They’ll have more stars, more fireworks, more people and more parties than ever before to close out the Vegas centennial.
BEST PLACE to watch the fireworks? Waimanalo. In Vegas, try the Top of the Stratosphere.
Pamela Anderson and
Kid Rock
JUST IN TIME for the new year, Le Bete nightclub in the Wynn Las Vegas reopens as Tryst ... and Kid Rock opens JET in the Mirage.
IF YOU’RE a Monorail rider, beware, the prices are going up. So a one-way ride will set you back $5 (was $3) and an all-day pass is now $15 (up from $5). Look on the bright side - at least they didn’t make the walk to the casino longer too.
MANY OF US Hawaiians have been known to drive to Vegas from Cali for outlet mall pit-stops. Now Boyd Gaming has opened its best hotel this side of the Mississippi - The South Coast Casino for the shopaholic road warriors. Complete with a 25-story tower, 660-room hotel, bowling center, 16-screen movie theater and a huge casino with 2,400 slot machines, 60 table games, a 300-seat race and sports book and a 200-seat poker room, you may never make it all the way downtown again.
Can Paris sing?
THURSDAY at 9 a.m. on Sports Radio 1420, Michael Konik talks about the lengths gamblers will go to win a wager like the Man with the $100,000 Breasts (yep, he had them put in). Then we chat with Blair Rodman, whose new book Kill Phil can teach you in one hour how to beat your buddies at poker - or you can listen online at www.kimosvegas.com
NOW I’VE heard of everything: A few weeks ago we reported the opening of the super-swanky, ultra-chic, bling bling recording studio Fantasy Suite at the Palms ... in residency: Paris Hilton mixing her new CD. She sings too? Doubt it.
GET MORE Kimo’s Vegas in the Wednesday MidWeek, in Oceanic Cable’s Around Hawaii and with Brickwood Galuteria Friday morning at 7:20 on Hawaiian105 KINE.
