IN ANOTHER Vegas auction, a light-blue 1975 Ford Escort GL (street value $500 ... maybe) sold for $690,000! Before you run to Cutter for an Escort of your own, you should know that this was no ordinary Ford Escort. It had the usual nicks and dents and came with no hubcaps, no air conditioning and no radio - but it did have a papal lineage. This Escort was once owned by Pope John Paul II. As a bonus, the winning bidder got a few other possessions of the pope’s, including wooden rosary beads and a dashboard medallion of St. Maria Goretti.

Business is so good that Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. just bought the Las Vegas Elvis Presley Museum (Elvis A Rama) and plans to turn it into a world-class attraction.
