Contrary to its name, the UIGA does not make playing poker online a crime but outlaws transferring money to gamble online. ... This prompted NBC and ESPN to cancel all online poker advertising and all poker programming except for coverage of the World Series of Poker. ... Wynn Resorts terminated its agreement with PokerStars, an affiliation that began less than a month ago. ... The reverberations continued into the halls of the Nevada State Assembly, where lawmakers accepted $300,000 in campaign contributions. ... And four men, including a Las Vegas man, were arrested for operating an illegal gambling business and money laundering by conspiring to persuade banks to process billions of dollars for online gaming sites ... that’s right, they used the “B” word. ... Like the bow of the Titanic, we’ve probably only seen the tip of the UIGA iceberg.
