THE MIRAGE Hotel and Casino headliner is honoring wounded war veterans during a special “Tribute to the Troops” concert this Sunday. Proceeds from the Terry Fator benefit go to the United Service Organizations. On Veterans Day, the USO, Las Vegas Center opens at McCarran International Airport for active and reservist service members on orders. The lounge is located in Terminal 1.
OFF WE GO into the wild blue yonder ... The U.S. Air Force hosts Aviation Nation 2010 Nov. 13 and 14 at Nellis Air Force Base. The largest free show in Nevada salutes America’s military operations around the world with more than 100 aircraft on display. A LOCAL SPORTSCASTER said that a Vegas line moved because the unfavored team had a better chance of winning. Akamai bettors know that when the number of points a team is expected to win by changes, it’s not because the house believes the score will be close or that the underdog team has a chance to win. The point spread changes when the casino has booked too many bets on one side and wants to even the betting. They get paid (the vig) no matter who wins. How much money does it take to move the line? It really depends on how much money is bet on the game, but $1 million will get odds-makers reaching for their calculators.
IT’S OFFICIAL: Simba is leaving the building ... The final performance of the Vegas production of The Lion King is Dec. 30, 2011. Two-and-a-half years (and just over 1,000 performances) later the circle of life at the Mandalay Bay comes to an end. Unofficial speculation is that the theater will be the home of the new Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson show, opening in 2013.

FANS WILL BE happy to hear that a concert, “Michael Jackson, The Immortal World Tour,” will be in Vegas Dec. 3, 2011, at Mandalay Bay Events Center, and tickets are on sale now for the 25-city tour.
