WE’RE GOING TO depart from Vegas for a bit to congratulate and send our best to 80-year-old Honolulu resident Rebecca Berry, who traveled all the way to Minnesota to hit a big one. Saying she had a feeling about the machine: “I would play, walk away, play, walk away, and I kept coming back to the same machine for two days.” While visiting her daughters, she won $1,373,825.63 on the Mystic Lake Casino’s Wild Cherry progressive slot and said, “I was planning on retiring early next year, but I’m going to call him and say I quit.” A couple of days later her boss, U.S. District Judge Samuel King, released a statement saying she was rushed to the emergency room but was in stable condition ...
MORE THAN 500 poker players were angry at WSOP organizers when they were turned away from a no-limit Texas Hold ‘em main event because there were no more seats available in the $10,000 buy-in tourney. Six-bracelet winner T.J. Cloutier and five-time winner Ted Forrest were among the procrastinators who were left on the river ... 6,494 players are competing in the $61 million main event, where the winner will get about $8.55 million.

I SAW TERRY FATOR (and his cast of thousands), 2007 winner of America’s Got Talent and headliner at the Mirage, the day that
Michael Jackson died. Before the start of his show he informed the audience that the King of Pop had passed away and that he didn’t feel right doing an impression of him that night. Instead he sang a tribute in his voice with lips moving to Michael, and then went right into one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.
KIMO’S VEGAS TIP: Most Vegas shows stop just short of a strip search before you can enter, and if they see your camera, they’ll take it away. However, remember to bring your camera to the Terry Fator performance because he actually encourages you to take pictures during his family-safe show.
THERE’S A RUMOR in town that, if you sign up for the player’s club at the Bellagio and play $200 through a slot machine, they’ll send you a comp for a free room in the next couple of months ... Careful, your mileage may vary.
SALES OF single-family homes and condominiums were up almost 87 percent last month (compared to June of last year) according to the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors.
