FOR THE FIRST TIME in the history of the Palms, the resort’s casino will be allowed to make book on NBA games. The hotel was prohibited from taking bets on games because the Maloof family also owned the Sacramento Kings. The deal approved by the NBA has similar restrictions to the arrangement in place at Harrah’s, where you can’t place a bet on the Celtics because the hotel’s CEO owns 2.4 percent of the team.
