WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
CRISS ANGEL’S $100 million Cirque du Soleil show Believe was scheduled to open Sept. 12, but due to technical delays fans will have to wait until Oct. 9 for the grand opening. The monster ad going up on the side of the Luxor will leave no doubt as to the location of the illusionist.
IF YOU BELIEVE the only thing better than chocolate is free chocolate, then check out the 13-foot-tall chocolate clock at Payard’s Patisserie in Caesar’s Palace. It tells the time in nine different time zones and dispenses ono and free truffles every 15 minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day.
THE 2008 NBA Summer League, showcasing the top free agents and the 2008 draftees, is happening in Vegas July 11-20 at the Thomas & Mack Center and the Cox Pavilion. Twenty-one teams will compete in this year’s event, including the 12 teams from this year’s playoffs. A good spot to look for rookies is the Palms Casino Hotel.
YOU MAY WANT to make sure you pay your Wynn Las Vegas markers on time ... First they went after Charles Barkley for his $400,000 gambling debt, then Alonzo Mourning for a $50,000 convention bill. Now Steve Wynn’s people are going after Joe Francis for $2 million! Apparently there’s a lotta moolah to be made from those Girls Gone Wild videos. After being informed that passing a bad check (not paying for your markers) in Nevada is a felony, the creator of the 70-plus series of videos had his payment express-shipped to the Wynn.

You guys save some money for the rest of us, ‘kay?
LOOK IN THE NEW Palazzo tower - it’s a bar, it’s a lounge, it’s a nightclub ... No, it’s a Lamborghini dealership. Unlike any other car dealership you’ve ever seen, it even includes an upscale Italian restaurant called Dal Toro. Like the Ferrari dealership in the Wynn, admission is not free unless, of course, you have the means to drop at least $250,000 on a car. In case you’re wondering, the floors rise and lower much like jet bays in an aircraft carrier - that’s how they get the cars from the underground garage into the showroom.
KIMO’S VEGAS TRIVIA ... If you’ve returned a rental car in Vegas, you’ve been on George Crockett Road. If you’re like me, you may have wondered who he was and if he was related to the other guy with the same last name. This December is the 60th anniversary of the first and last thing many of us see in Vegas that was founded by Davy’s descendant ... the McCarran International Airport.

SOON YOU’LL BE able to check into the MGM Grand, Palazzo or the Venetian from the airport named after Sen. Patrick McCarran.
STARDUST ROAD has been renamed Echelon Resort Drive.
LAS VEGAS TURNAROUND ... Daryl Hall and John Oates perform at the Joint in the Hard Rock Friday, Aug. 15.
PART OF last weekend’s celebration on the Fremont Experience was a special show on the famous canopy choreographed to Don McLean’s American Pie. I wonder if anyone bothered to listen to the lyrics before they selected this song for their Fourth of July spectacular?
