Paula Parker won $10,000 twice on the
same machine at the Golden Nugget

WELCOME TO Kimo’s Vegas! This week on the radio we’re talking with Jeff Kutash, who’s been booking, producing and directing entertainment in France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Israel, Spain, England and Las Vegas for more than 20 years. He’s worked with everyone from Steve Wynn (the guy with his name on a $2.7 billion hotel) to local diva Bette Midler, and he got started here in Hawaii. Then we check in with ex-pat resident Piilani Tandal, now a slot shift manager at the California and Main Street Station.

A COUPLE of weeks ago we told you about the World Show Association’s Convention at the Mandalay Bay, Aug. 4-7. It’s a shoe lover’s nirvana: 1.6 million square feet, 6,000 brands and more than 1,600 exhibitors (who knew shoes were that big?). They are looking for shoe models to work the convention. Who looks at shoes? Well, if shoes are your thing and you’re between 19 and 27 and wear a size 6, and you’d like to be a shoe model, e-mail Michelle .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

MOST PEOPLE would quit after hitting a $10,000 jackpot on a slot machine. Not Paula from Hawaii. After winning $10,422 at the Golden Nugget she kept playing the same machine and an hour later hit it again for $10,006.

AT THE Fremont, Janet Phillips from Hilo won $2,500 on a 5x’s machine, Helen Pang of Honolulu hit the 10x’s for $6,000 and Maria Bacoro of Kaneohe hit the Black & Gold (after playing for only 20 minutes) for $12,494!

HAWAII WINNERS continue at the Cal where a local guy won $35,000 when he got the 5 Aces playing Pai Gow. A Kaneohe lady hit the $1 KENO for $30,000, and Kenneth Kidani caught the Royal Flush on Let It Ride for $45,000! Das a lotta omiyage, guys!

THE PALMS Hotel and Casino rolls out the red carpet for Rob Schneider next week when it hosts the world premiere of Deuce Bigalow, European Gigolo.

THE VH1 reality show StripSearch finalists debut at the Riviera Hotel Friday. The boys next door (we’re talking small town America) are joining the revue “American Storm,” where they take off their clothes as they take you through America’s history. The show starts with Chris Columbus, then the Wild West, a visit with Al Capone, the ’60s and today, and ends with a salute to the Armed Forces. You ladies can tell us how good the show is … we’ll take your word for it.

Send us your Vegas tips and enter to win a pair of tickets to see “V” the Ultimate Variety Show. Arlene Yano writes: “I want you to know that we really enjoyed the show and the variety of talents. Wow, those guys on the unicycle were great … the comedian/host is soooooo funny! The Russian acrobats were incredible. The guy that did all the quick changes was fun and entertaining … and so was the magician. And I like the fact that all of the entertainers came out to the door as we exited. GOOD SHOW!!!”
