WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
AFTER “WHAT happens in Vegas ...” the second most popular phrase in Sin City is “Any excuse to party ... .” To congratulate Erica Ellyson on becoming the 2008 Penthouse Pet of the Year, the Penthouse Club is throwing a party in her honor Friday (March 7) night. Bring a fresh copy of the March issue for a free autograph.
WHO’S THE MOST powerful man in all of Las Vegas? It’s not the third-richest man in America (and the owner of the Venetian and Palazzo) Sheldon Adelson, nor is it Steve Wynn (the owner of the Wynn Las Vegas). The guy most of us have never heard of is the guy who can give Las Vegas billionaires, millionaires and casino execs big-time chicken skin. Dennis K. Neilander is the chairman of the Nevada Gaming Control Board, the folks who can pull a company’s gaming license.
IN TOWN for the World Shoe Association (WSA) convention, David Fan and the gang (all of them) from Surfah Hawaii - the folks who make the rubbah slippahs we all love.
THE TWO biggest Las Vegas conventions based on the number of attendees are coming to town. First, the second-largest convention CONEXPO with 135,000 (attendees) March 11-15, then the NAB Show (National Association of Broadcasters) with 140,000 is scheduled for April 14-17. Good luck getting a cab or a deal on a Strip room during these dates.
DEBUTING IN the Digital Signage Expo - the convention for the folks who make those huge electronic signs you see on the Strip (and in other large metropolitan cities) - new 3D displays. No redand-blue glasses or goggles needed ... just imagine that fried Twinkie sign at Mermaids casino downtown in 3D.
YOBOSEO ... coming soon just a few miles from the Strip: an indoor mall called The Korea Town Plaza.

FANS OF the Las Vegas TV show are mounting an unusual protest ... in homage to Delinda Devine’s pregnancy, they are sending NBC execs baby socks and baby bottles, hoping to re-invigorate the network’s interest in the show, or at the very least get some closure, asking them to finish Part II of what became the show’s finale, Three Weddings and a Funeral, Part I. Get the link to join the protest at www.KimosVegas.com.
DO YOU remember the $30 million diamond bikini Molly Sims modeled in the 2006 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition? I know what you’re thinking ... she wore a bikini?
GAMBLERS MAKE one small kine deposit ... last year 300,000 more folks went to Vegas than in 2006, the Strip casinos collected $6.8 billion and we deposited $632.9 million downtown.
WAYNE BRADY extends his gig at the Venetian for another year (300 shows). The hardest working performer on the Strip said, “I couldn’t be happier being in Las Vegas doing what I do best, entertaining audiences. I am trying to bring old school showbiz back - singing, dancing and improv - the way Sammy Davis Jr. did back in the day.” Tickets for Making It Up start at $49 ...it’s a great theater with no bad seats.
VIRGINIA CAMBRA of Honolulu won $3,500, and George Cambra of Honolulu won $4,552 playing KENO at the Cal!
