AN ESTIMATED 25,000 Englishmen (and women) traveled across the globe to see their champion Ricky “The Hitman” Hatton get knocked out in the 10th round by Floyd “Pretty Boy"Mayweather. AUWE ... problems continue for Harrah’s Entertainment. First it received citations and had to close more than 700 rooms at the Rio because renovations were done without the required permits and safety inspections. Then the Harrah’s Las Vegas Hotel/Casino failed to pass its fire inspections and had to close a bunch of rooms. Now the casino conglomerate has a third property in deep kim chee. Last month (while the Rio and Harrah’s were being investigated), Flamingo employees reportedly removed safety equipment from one floor and reinstalled it on another floor to pass a fire inspection.

RIVER DANCER Michael Flatley is now $11 million richer. His jackpot didn’t come from a slot machine, but from a stripper. Tyna Marie Robinson accused the Lord of the Dance star of raping her in a Vegas hotel room (and sued him for $25 million). He says it was consensual and she was extorting him. The California Supreme Court ordered the stripper to pay the dancer after testimony from a witness who said he saw the couple being friendly the morning after.

EACH MONTH the Nevada Gaming Control Board (the guys who make sure the players get a fair shake) publishes what the slot machines in the casinos did. Huge million-dollar jackpots can make the percentages vary a little from month to month. The penny slots on the Strip kept 11 percent, nickels about 12 percent, quarters about 9 percent, dollars 7 percent and $5 machines 6 percent of players’ money. Downtown casinos are usually a little more player-friendly: Pennies were the same as the Strip, nickels held a little more than 8 percent, quarters 5 percent and dollars and $5 machines about 4 percent.
THIS YEAR, the median price of a Vegas home dropped from $308,000 to $273,500.
THE POKER machines at the Cal were good to Sarah Kadoyama of Mililani ($2,782), Lorraine Chow of Kaneohe and Dorothy Fujimoto of Ewa Beach (both won $4,000) and Peggy Alicuben of Hilo ($8,000).
