WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
Heart will be at the Mandalay Bay
May 12
HANG OUT at the Mandalay Bay on May 12 and you’re likely to run into a plethora of rock royalty including Ann and Nancy Wilson (Heart), Phil Collins (Genesis), Ozzy Osbourne, ZZ Top and more. “VH1 Rock Honors” the aforementioned legends who influenced the sound of music. If this sounds like a good time to you, check out the red carpet (for free) or check for nosebleed seats on eBay - either way, avoid the scalpers at the door.
THE HOTELS frown on scalpers, but there are always folks walking around with concert tickets for sale. Buyer, beware - e-tickets can be a second print or a complete Photoshopped forgery.
COOL RIDES to rent in the hot desert: a Ferrari 360 Modena $995 per day or a Lamborghini Gallardo at $1,500 a day. I checked; there are no hourly or per-minute rates.
OR IF BLING is your thing, Fred Leighton Rare Collectable Jewels in the Bellagio has Mrs. Cole Porter’s aquamarine and ruby belt necklace set with 23 rubies on a platinum mounting ($1,275,000), Joan Crawford’s 75 carat amethyst and gold ring ($58,000) and more.
THE FIFTH ANNUAL Five Star World Poker Classic happens at the Bellagio starting next week. The winner takes home $25,000 and will automatically defend the title in the 2008 tournament.
Howie Mandel’s
‘Deal or No
Deal’ is No. 1
THE NO. 1 TV SHOW (when American Idol‘s not on) is NBC’s Deal or No Deal, and host Howie Mandel has added a bunch of performances to his MGM Grand schedule. The DOND slot machine, made by Atronic, features a bonus round just like the TV show complete with offers from the bank.
IF YOU MISSED it at the Rio last year, the Japanese production show Matsuri replaces The Scintas at the Sahara later next month.
LOS ANGELES and Chicago are battling for the rights to the 2016 Olympics. Isn’t it ironic that Sin City is pitching a partnership with the City of Angels to win the oldest sporting event known to man? If it happens, the Sam Boyd Stadium will host the Olympics’ preliminary soccer games.
LAST YEAR the Las Vegas Hilton held a huge buffet that included 510 different dishes, and the Guinness Book of World Records awarded it the title of The World’s Largest Buffet. In Walnut Creek, Ohio, they attempted to best the Hilton’s record with 600 dishes, including Hungarian sauerkraut soup and sweet potato soufflé. It’s a sure bet that if Ohio wins, Vegas will go back to the kitchen.
MICHAEL JACKSON is rumored to be building a 50-foot robotic likeness of himself (like the cover of the CD HIStory: Past, Present and Future). With lasers beaming from its eyes, the statue will welcome visitors to Vegas and promote his concerts at a to-be-named resort. The King of Pop is currently in the studio working on a new album with producer’s will.i.am, Rodney Jerkins and Neffu.
