WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
Mario Lopez
DANCING WITH THE STARS second-place finisher Mario Lopez is hosting the 2007 Miss America Pageant live from The Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. We’ll all be cheering for Kamehameha grad Miss Hawaii Pilialoha Gaison on TV Monday, Jan. 29. Meanwhile (lucky guy) Kevin Kaneshiro, Vacations Hawaii advertising and sales manager, will be cheering for her from the audience.
THIS WEEK on Kimo’s Vegas TV: Bill Boyd from Boyd Gaming & Vacations Hawaii talks about his family’s connection with Hawaii, then the executive chef at Wolfgang Puck’s Chinois (local boy) Terence Fong shows us how to make Koge Rice Cake with Spicy Tuna Tartare. Get the recipe online at www.KimosVegas.com and watch the show Monday at 9 p.m. on OC16.
KOREAN POP singer Rain kicked off his world tour “Rain’s Coming” to a sold-out house at Caesars Palace. The 5,000 tickets sold out within a week. The tour will visit 35 cities in 12 countries.
KIMO’S VEGAS TIP from our friend Jean “The Frugal Gambler” Scott: If someone tries to sell you a “locals” monorail ticket, pass. Uniformed officers ask you for a Vegas ID before you board. No ID, lose money!
Michael Jordan: Spotted bumping and
grinding with Charles Barkley
DID YOU SEE the video of Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley at the Bellagio? The tall twosome were caught in the act of doing the bump and grind with ... each other! Barkeep, call those boys a cab. I think they’ve had one too many! See the scandalous video now at www.KimosVegas.com.
IT’S NOT a new gang thing ... those guys in the red berets on Fremont Street are the real deal. The Guardian Angels have opened a charter office in Vegas, and will cruise downtown to keep us safe and help clean things up, just as they did in NYC.
Mayor Oscar Goodman said, “The Guardian Angels are certainly just another resource to be the eyes and ears to any impropriety. I welcome them to the community.”
HOW OFTEN does the spin button on the Wheel of Fortune hit? If the bank of machines is full of players, the crowd will cheer “Wheel Of Fortune” on average once every four minutes.
DREAM ACE ... not the kind that comes with a face card, but the kind you get with sawdust, carpenter’s glue and power tools ... arghhh! Ace Hardware is giving away a complete hardware store! The prize is valued at $1 million, and the winner will be chosen from contestants in all 50 states at the Ace Hardware convention in Las Vegas. Get the complete details at www.KimosVegas.com.
GET MORE Kimo’s Vegas in both issues of “MidWeek,” in Oceanic Time Warner’s “Around Hawaii,” on OC16 Monday at 9 p.m., on The New ESPN 1420 Thursday night at 7 and with Billy V. Friday morning at 7:20 on Hawaiian105 KINE.
