Monty Python's SPAMALOT at Wynn Las Vegas
WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell
WHO LET THE dawgs out? Randy Jackson was a music industry player long before American Idol. He’s played bass guitar for everyone from Journey to Santana, and he was in Mariah Carey’s band on the 2006 Grammy Awards. His latest venture will be selecting the artists and producing all the shows in the Las Vegas Hilton’s new Headliner Series.
Speakin’ of dogs ... Duane “Dog” Chapman and wife Beth were spotted in Las Vegas looking for bad guys. While there, they came to the aid of a stranded family. Patricia Ambrosio and her children flew to Vegas to meet her husband ... but he never showed and they were stranded since New Year’s. Seeing the family’s plight on TV, Dog and Beth made a few calls and got them a room at the Wynn. That got the ball rolling so they now have tickets home. Chapman said, “This might be more gratifying and more rewarding than capturing a fugitive, so it was a great thing.”
HART & HUNTINGTON Tattoo Company in the Palms is the only place in Vegas you can get a tattoo comp. You can hook up with the motocross champ and founder Carey Hart Thursday, Jan. 18 at the grand opening of his Hawaii ink shop at the International Marketplace.
Celine Dion
CELINE DION’S Brand New Day at Caesars Palace will close next Dec. 15. Her three-year, $100 million contract was extended through 2007 and almost 2.5 million people have seen the show since it opened. Tickets for August through December performances go on sale March 1. Maybe Michael Jackson’s name will be added to the list of potential headliners for the Coliseum.
ALSO CLOSING is Mamma Mia! The summer 2008 will be the last time the curtain rises, making it the most successful full-length Broadway musical in Las Vegas history. Scott Voeller, marketing director of Mandalay Bay, said “We always knew that the show would not run indefinitely.” The closing had nothing to do with slow ticket sales, but was because of the city’s (and its Mega-resort inhabitants) constant quest to reinvent itself.
THE MAYOR is still trying to get an NFL team to the city that never sleeps ... by placing a call to the San Diego Chargers. For now, the team is looking for a home in San Diego County, but the Chargers are free to leave after the 2008 season by paying off $60 million in city bonds. But $60 mill is not the hard part ... getting the NFL to approve any team move to Las Vegas is like selling ice to Eskimos.
NOW YOU can reserve a private blackjack, roulette or craps table at the Luxor. This is a great idea for family reunions, conventions or partying with friends ... for the blackjack table you need five or more; each player must buy-in for $300 and bet a minimum of $15 a hand. For the
roulette table, six players, $300 buy-in and $10 minimum bet. On the craps table, 10 players, $500 buy-in and $10 minimum bet.
