WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas ... The Player’s Edge!
Britney Spears: Headlining in
’07?
BRITNEY SPEARS may come out of her self-imposed retirement with a new CD and show in Vegas. Employing the Celine Dion “Diva Model,” (a long-term, multi-year, multi-performance deal) look for the singer to be the resident headliner at a major Strip property next year. I’ll bet you she’ll be without her ex-backup singer, dancer and husband Kevin Federline.
THE AUCTION of the Stardust’s stuff starts Friday and runs through Tuesday (Nov. 21). The first item on the block is the craps table where the last roll was thrown before the doors were closed. Looking through the auction catalog brought back a lot of memories. Check it out at www.KimosVegas.com
COLUMBIA SUSSEX Corp. President Bill Yung III told Nevada gaming officials that the Tropicana will live on and receive a $2 billion makeover when his company’s $2.75 billion buyout is finalized.
ACROSS THE STRIP from the Wynn Las Vegas is the New Frontier, and rumor has it that Steve Wynn may be buying out his neighbor (Frontier owner) Phil Ruffin. Current plans are to demolish the New Frontier and build a Swiss-themed hotel called Montreux. Bet on a change of direction if Mr. Wynn buys the joint.
FOR THE FIRST time in the Mobil Travel Guide’s ranking of luxury resorts, a Las Vegas Strip hotel has been awarded five stars: The Tower Suites at Wynn Las Vegas is one of 37 hotels awarded the top ranking for next year.
LAST MARCH, the Penny Megabucks machine was unveiled at the California Hotel and Casino Downtown. The manufacturer expected a winner when the progressive jackpot grew to $14 million. It’s now close to $18 million (see the exact amount of any Megabucks jackpot at www.KimosVegas.com).

JUST LIKE the election in Hawaii, Nevada voters had some issues of their own. The most surprising is the passage of a ballot measure that will ban smoking in slot machine areas of supermarkets, gas stations and convenience stores, and in bars that serve food. The state has the nation’s highest rate of smoking-related deaths. Starting Dec. 8, you can smoke, gamble and drink, or you can eat, gamble and drink, but you can’t smoke, gamble, eat and drink!
AT THE GRAND opening of Prince’s new club, 3121 in the Rio, the red carpet was replaced with a purple one ... maybe he’s part Filipino?
