The owners cited heavy competition from mega-clubs and ultra-lounges as the cause. PERHAPS A $6,000 Carl’s Jr. hamburger is more to your taste? Just added to the Palms coffee shop and room service menus is the second-most expensive burger in town. However, you won’t find a Carl’s on the premises; to fill your order, a bellman hits the drive-through in a Palms Escalade. But what adds the Benjamins to the tab is a 24-year-old bottle of Bordeaux.

OR YOU CAN save even more and settle for the world’s most expensive spud. Framma Trattoria in the MGM Grand is serving a Yukon Gold white truffle potato! Seasoned with salt, pepper and olive oil, the tater is wrapped in foil and baked. The insides are then blended with bacon, sour cream, imported Parmigiano-Reggiano and fresh Alba truffles from Italy, and carefully returned to its shell. At $70 a serving, it’s less likely to send your Visa into cardiac arrest.

NEW OMIYAGE idea ... check out Ethel’s Chocolate Lounge in the Fashion Show Mall. Described as chocolate for passionate chocolate lovers, this is the first chocolate lounge to open outside Illinois. These high-end confections are the creation of Jin Caldwell, who was the chocolatier for the Wynn Las Vegas and Bellagio. If you don’t love this chocolate, I personally guarantee to eat all your leftovers.
