WELCOME to Kimo’s Vegas… The Players Edge!

The grand opening of the Las Vegas Playboy Club is being commemorated by the Palms Casino Resort with limited edition casino chips featuring Hugh Heffner (from 1953), Hugh’s home, the Playboy Mansion, Big Bunny (Hugh’s private DC-9) and Marilyn Munroe on the black ($100) chips. Did you know that you have to pay an admission fee to play in their casino?

To thank their customers for booking online, priceline.com created “The Ultimate Upgrade.” The first winner is Dr. Steve Stice from Atlanta, he won limo rides to and from the airport, $5,000 in cash, a suite at the Aladdin and a round-trip flight in his own private jet. OneSky provided the jet to demonstrate that private jets, are surprisingly affordable and an accessible alternative to commercial flights. In case you were wondering a round trip to Vegas in your own private jet will set you back $38,000 to $99,000… I’m available if you need some company.

The Bellagio has just unveiled the conservatory and botanical gardens’ new fall display… check out the living painting created from 160,000 plants and flowers.

Harrah’s Entertainment, the world’s largest casino operator (they own Caesars, Flamingo, Bally’s, 39 casinos in all) received an offer from a private equity firm in Texas for $81 a share. The total price of the buyout is 15.8 billion bucks and assumption of the companies 10.8 billion dollars of debt for a grand total of $25.9 billion - even my calculator can’t count that high.

American Idol trio Ryan Seacrest, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson stopped at the Bellagio on their way home from the AI auditions in Alabama.

The high-priced Monoply game continues as Harrah’s announced that they would acquire the Barbary Coast Hotel and Casino from Boyd Gaming Corp. in exchange for 24 acres of land on the Strip. Boyd’s will end up with 87 contiguous acres from the Frontier to Circus Circus.

What’s it cost to operate the Wynn Las Vegas? Just under $2.2 million a day. Got a Vegas question e-mail me, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

A “George” is what they call a big tipper in Vegas, “King George” is the name reserved for really big tippers but the elderly blackjack player who had a hot streak at the Wynn Las Vegas may be in a class of his own. After winning more than $1,000,000 he decided to share his good fortune with the dealers and cocktail waitresses totaling $450,000 in tips!

The nine World Series of Poker finalists could learn a lesson from him not one of them left a single toke (tip) for the dealers, auwe!

Yoko Ono says she’s ready to split the Big Apple for Sin City, “The thing that’s going on in Las Vegas, it’s very interesting. It’s the city of the future in a way. It’s giving a lot of freedom to artists and I think it’s going to blossom because of that. “I think it’s a beautiful, beautiful city.” Bet she thought the shopping was good too.

Now that the spinach scare is just about over (lucky we get Nalo Greens), chefs in Vegas were not so lucky and substituted everything from arugula to watercress including fresh basil, turnip and mustard greens. Some even added things like Swiss chard, green beans, sautéed pea shoots and scallops Benedict to the menu.
