PETER MORTON has sold the Hard Rock Hotel to Morgans Hotel Group for $770 million. He will receive about 95 percent of the net proceeds of the sale. They are also in partnership with the Boyd Group to develop a part of Echelon Place.
Prince is at the Empire
Ballroom next weekend
THE ARTIST again known as Prince has scheduled a pair of intimate shows at the Empire Ballroom May 27 and 28.
AUGUST 1-4 is a good time to go shoe shopping in Vegas. The WSA (World Shoe Association) is having its biannual convention at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Sands Expo and The Venetian. Even if you can’t get into the WSA show, every store in town will be displaying the latest designs at sale prices for the 34,000 industry participants.
DREAMSCAPE Development Group of Dallas is looking to build two stadiums as part of a $2.1 billion, 5-Star casino/condo/hotel project called Stone Castle Resorts on 65 acres near the Silverton. The 80,000-seat domed stadium and a 25,000-seat arena will be inspired by the design of the ancient Roman coliseums.
Seating would be cantilevered, putting the audience closer to the stage. They’re hoping to host “NCAA Division 1-A football, basketball and baseball, NFL football, Arena Football, NBA basketball, Major League Baseball, tennis, soccer, boxing, wrestling, speed auto and motorcycle racing, hockey, indoor track and field, mega music concerts, touring Broadway shows, and special rodeo events” (whew)!
