If you said they all have their own slot machine, you’re right … the Hawaii Icon has been working and playing in Vegas since Bugsy & the Boys ran the town (circa 1966) “Don Ho’s Kahuna Kash” has all the mana of the Islands … multicolored lei, conch shells, hula dancers, tikis, volcanoes, a fire dance bonus round and, of course, the Don Ho symbols are wild! We’ll talk story with Don and the executives at WMS gaming (makers of the slot) Tuesday at 6 p.m. on KORL AM690.

It’s TRUE! The Golden Nugget in Vegas was sold! VP of Sales & Marketing Dan Shumny says the ownership transition should be seamless (guests won’t know the difference) because the management team will remain in place. How much kala does it take to own a Vegas casino? Only $140 million cash and assumption of $155 million in debt. I wonder if the nice folks here at MidWeek will give me a loan … I’m about a $295 million short …
My favorite Vegas ride? The spiral escalator at the Caesars Palace Forum Shops … it just seems wrong for an escalator to go round and round (and up and up or down and down) … and these are the only two in all of the U.S.
If you like your rides more extreme, wait a year then try “Insanity – The Ride.” Imagine yourself 900 feet above the strip, spinning at 40 mph, pulling 3 G’s, 64 feet past the edge of the building! Stratosphere Casino Hotel GM Bobby Ray Harris says, “The Ride is the next level in an ongoing trend of creating the most extreme thrill ride out there.” I say no thanks …
Wynn Casino slated to open on Mrs. Wynn’s birthday (April 28) … will be the tallest tower in Vegas with 45 floors and 514 feet. Used to be the Bellagio had the most expensive average room at $533,000, but Steve’s place will beat that at a cost of $750,000 per room …
Last year’s estimated gross revenue from the top six Las Vegas operators (Boyd Gaming Corp., Caesars Entertainment, Harrah’s Entertainment, Mandalay Resort Group, MGM Mirage and Station Casinos) $18.9 billion … I think most of that money is from California … because everyone knows people from Hawaii don’t lose … we break even!
