Sidewalk Sale And More At Windward Mall
Windward Community College, GEAR UP Hawaii and the Native Hawaiian Education Association will present a college fair Jan. 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Windward Mall Center Court. The event provides families and children with access to resources on financial aid, admissions assistance, academic counseling as well as additional educational services and opportunities. Cyril Pahinui will provide the entertainment.
Also happening that day from noon to sunset is the Pacific Roller Derby’s Sk808 Tournament with nonstop roller derby action and fun at the mall’s upper level parking deck. Tickets are $7 online or $10 at the door ($7 with a student or military ID). Free for keiki under age 12.
Also on Jan. 9 (and again Jan. 23) from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Hawaii Blood Bank Bloodmobile will be located in the parking lot on the corner of Haiku Road and Kamehameha Highway for donations.
Then it’s Windward Mall’s Post-Holiday Sidewalk Sale Jan. 15 to 18. Great savings are available in-store and on the sidewalk.

Sony Open, Scrabble & Chess At Kahala Mall
The Sony Open will host a photo display from Jan. 11 to 18 between Sunglass Hut and Aveda in Kahala Mall. The popular PGA tournament attracts 144 of the world’s greatest golf professionals at nearby Waialae Country Club Jan. 11 to 17 and is the largest charity event in Hawaii, raising more than $9 million for the local nonprofit Friends of Hawaii Charities since 1999.
Also happening at Kahala Mall this month, the Scrabble Club starts back up Jan. 13 and meets from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. every Wednesday thereafter at Center Court. Play one, two or three
50-minute timed games, starting at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30. Also get helpful hints on improving your Scrabble game and meet others who love to play. For more information, call 235-3073.
