The Fresh F.A.C.E. of Nuuanu Street presents the Fashion Original Design Showdown on Oct. 14 (Think Project Runway). The event reflects not just the look but the quality of life that pervades the neighborhood — artistic, inspired, edgy and evolving. Guidelines and rules: The contest is open to all artists/designers. Personal expression and unique fashion is the goal. Designs may be submitted in the categories of daywear, Hawaiian wear or evening wear. All garments are to be created by the designer. All garments must be completed before the submission date of Sept. 15. Each designer must have a model for his or her garments. Only one garment/design per category per artist/designer. Entries need to be postmarked by Sept. 15, 2006.
A fashion show is scheduled for Oct. 14 at 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
There will be a $250 cash prize among other prizes for the best designer in each category.
Entry fee is $20. Include one sketch on 8 1/2-by-11 paper. Write your name, age, address, phone number and e-mail address on the back of the picture.
