New Shopping Bags at Ala Moana Center

Ala Moana Center is now offering shopping bags that do double duty as a practical tote and also serve as a fun memento or keepsake, which can be used again and again.

The shopping bags have a vintage feel, at first glance it looks like the backdrop of an oil painting. Both sides of the bag showcase different traditional island images.

One panel features a mosaic from Hawaii’s past - including a hula dancer in a grass skirt, a ship setting sail and flowers - while the other highlights a young girl dancing the hula.

And to make your purchase go the extra mile, all proceeds generated from the new shopping bags will directly benefit General Growth Properties’ (GGP) new charity sponsor, Hawaii Habitat for Humanity. The new bags cost $1.50 each, are constructed from recycled or reclaimed materials and are available exclusively at Ala Moana Center. The bag’s unique vintage flair was designed by renowned Kauai artist Bridgette D’Annibale.

Nationally, GGP has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity International in a three-year partnership to raise awareness about the need for safe and affordable housing, and to help build homes for families in need in communities where GGP malls are located. Across Hawaii, GGP has aimed to raise $50,000 to put toward materials and supplies for the homes Habitat for Humanity builds.
