Martin & MacArthur introduces its newest koa fashion accessory: koa-framed sunglasses.

Initially, the premium fashion sunglasses will be available at three of the company’s eight locations: Ala Moana Center, Hilton Hawaiian Village and the Outrigger Reef on the Beach. The koa is Martin & MacArthur’s own wood, harvested from private estates of fallen trees on the Big Island, and the sunglasses are priced from $299.

The introduction of the Martin & MacArthur-branded sunglasses builds on the company’s other recent successful launches into personal accessories. Long known for its fine furniture and home accessories, the wood sunglasses join the Martin & MacArthur wood watches, which were introduced in August 2010, and koa jewelry, first introduced in 2008. Other personal accessories will be launched before the end of 2011.

In addition, the Martin & MacArthur sunglasses are available in other fine hardwoods, including Italian ebony, cocobolo, walnut, olive ash burl, rosewood and zebrawood; and are available in six fashion styles to flatter both men and women. All sunglass frames are made entirely of waterproof wood composite; for ecological reasons, Martin & MacArthur was determined that no plastics would be used in the engineering of the frames.

All lenses are specifically treated to eliminate harsh reflective glare and are guaranteed to block out UV rays. The lenses are offered in brown, gray and green.

Buyer beware. These sunglasses are cheaply made. Definitely not worth the asking price. You are better off buying sunglasses from a reputable sun-glass dealer.

Well HNLMOMMA I’m not sure what prompted you to post this asinine comment, but I personally hand craft these frames.  I’ve worked in the luxury optical industry for over fifteen years so I believe my reputation here in Los Angeles speaks for itself.  Sorry if you had a bad experience but you really should contact the source before slamming a company that actually cares about giving back to people in need.
