Kailua Verde Moves

Kailua Verde Boutique & Consignment has moved a few doors down into a larger space from its original location at 111 Hekili St. (across from Food-land).

The consignment store carries high-end fashions for women, men and children that are new or gently used. Items are consigned for 30 days, and the owner of the consigned item receives 40 percent of the profit in check or 50 percent in store credit.

The store also started hosting a Swap Day on the first Friday of each month where customers can bring items in to be traded for another item of the same value.

Ice Age At Pearlridge

Starting June 3, Pearlridge Center Uptown and Downtown will be overrun with giant animatronic early mammals and even human ancestors as part of Hawaii’s first experience with Planet Ice. This original traveling exhibit by Kokoro Exhibits was developed to depict the giant mammals of between 60 and 3 million years ago - the time after the dinosaurs. It was a period when the Earth’s landscape was changing violently because of volcanoes, powerful earthquakes and moving glaciers, and new creatures were evolving to take the place of the extinct “terrible lizard.”

Exhibit highlights include:
* A group of smilodons, the giant saber-toothed cat
* A conflict between a smilodon and a megatherium, the giant sloth
* A woolly mammoth
* A family of Australopithecus, the earliest-known human ancestor
* A diatryma, the giant flightless bird
* A doedicurus, the large armadillo
* A baluchitherium, the primitive rhinoceros
* A platybelodon, the prehistoric elephant
* A coelodonta, the extinct woolly rhino
* A group of hyracotherium, the fox-sized early horse

Uptown Center Court also will feature the Pearlridge Tundra Train, taking youngsters under 48 inches tall on an adventure through the snowy expanses and grasslands for a nominal fee. The exhibit is open through July 31. The Tundra Train is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays and holidays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
