Macy’s National Believe Day

Macy’s and Make-A-Wish Foundation granted 57 wishes across the country, including one from a 17year-old girl named Taylor from Wahiawa.

She received the news on Dec. 9, which is Macy’s National Believe Day. Her wish was to go to the Grammys in Los Angeles taking place in February. Taylor, who is a big fan of Taylor Swift, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis in March 2010.

To help prepare her for the big night, she’ll also receive a makeover including wardrobe styling with celebrity stylist Crystal Pancipanci.

Honolulu City Lights Ornaments

Honolulu City Lights, the city’s premier holiday celebration, is in its 27th year of bringing holiday joy to island families and visitors. To keep the monthlong event free to the public, the Friends of Honolulu City lights have for years created Shaka Santa-inspired ornaments, which are now soughtafter by collectors.

The 2011 “Holoholo-Just Have Fun” ornaments kick off a series that will feature the Shaka Santa around town. This year, there are two ornaments one with the Shaka Santa packing his toy bag out front of Honolulu Hale and the other depicting his arrival by canoe in Waikiki to distribute his toys.

The ornaments were designed by Owen Ho and are made of brass. Each costs $18 and can be purchased at all Oahu Macy’s stores. The Honolulu Hale Holoholo ornament also is available at all branches of First Hawaiian Bank on Oahu.

The Friends also sell all of their ornaments, dating back to 2000, at honolulucitylights.org. There also is a 2011 commemorative T-shirt for $10 to $14 (depending on size) available at a booth at Honolulu Hale during the monthlong celebration or through the Friends website.
