Fendi Teams Up With Local Artists
Wednesday - August 10, 2011
Fendi introduces a series of two separate unique design projects with local artists Eli Baxter and Aaron Padilla to launch Fendi’s design-focused Fatto a Mano for the Future (handmade for the future) platform in Hawaii.
Maintaining Fendi’s fundamental value of craftsmanship, Fatto a Mano for the Future combines old world artisanship and modern day techniques through the collaboration, support and perpetuation of emerging contemporary artists.
In the spirit of these core concepts, Fendi’s Roman craftsman will work intimately with both Baxter (at the Ala Moana boutique Aug. 12 and 13 from noon to 8 p.m.) and Padilla (at the Royal Hawaiian Center boutique Aug. 14 and 15 from noon to 9 p.m.) to build, cut, assemble, sew and create contemporary design pieces that fuse each artist’s signature craft with Fendi’s Italian sensibilities and materials.
During the event, attendees are offered the opportunity to schedule private appointments with Fendi’s Roman craftsman to create, customize and purchase their very own Fendi Selleria handbag. In honor of alumni Baxter and Padilla, 20 percent of the event’s proceeds will benefit the University of Hawaii Art Department. For details, call 973-3311.
